Course Objectives

  • By completing this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the main hardware components on your computer

  • Identify the computer programs that are installed on your computer

  • Open a pre-written document for previewing, editing and printing

  • Use Word processing software to create new documents, save and print your work.

  • Close down Applications and Windows correctly

  • Understand the structure of your computer’s hard drive and how to find saved documents on your computer

  • Understand your computer’s Desktop environment, settings and how to work with Icons

  • Gain confidence in working with dialog boxes and standard toolbars

  • Make shortcuts to programs on your computer appear on the Desktop environment

  • Make changes to Desktop settings (including screen resolution and colour quality), Screen Saver and Themes, etc

  • Use the Windows File Search facility to look for lost items on your computer.

  • Work through carefully designed exercises to consolidate your learning.
